Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

Senior Connections has an extremely busy week ahead.On Monday, July 15 at the Schulenburg campus, after a morning of dominoes and tarock cards, a lunch of roast beef, buttered potatoes, salad and dessert will be served.

God’s Embrace Ministries sets benefit dinner

God’s Embrace Ministries announces that its benefit dinner is scheduled to take place on Friday, Nov. 8. This special evening will gather supporters, donors and community members to celebrate GEM’s mission and initiatives.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of July 5, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 857 for the year – 369 dogs and 488 cats in need.As of July 5, the shelter had 132 animals in its care – 76 dogs and 56 cats.

CARTS offering free rides for senior citizens

CARTS, in partnership with the Capital Area Council of Governments, Area Agency on Aging and ADRC of the Capital Area, has a new initiative that provides free rides for senior citizens.

CCA’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound.Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

The Stanzel Family Foundation is currently accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations providing services within the geographic area defined by the Schulenburg and/or Weimar school districts.
