As of June 21, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 794 for the year – 328 dogs and 466 cats in need.As of June 21, the shelter had 144 animals in its care – 61 dogs and 83 cats.

A $23,500 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of La Grange will help Crosspoint Community Church, the only designated Red Cross shelter in Fayette County, add a generator to help ensure power remains available at the site during emergencies.

FCF accepting Community Impact Grant applications

The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) is now accepting applications for the 2024 Community Impact Grant cycle with a deadline of Sunday, June 30.All registered nonprofits serving up to 80 miles outside of La Grange are encouraged to apply.

Birdie is a German shepherd mix. She is 55 pounds and about 2 years old. She was brought to our shelter 16 weeks ago. Staff is baffled by her lengthy stay. She is people and dog friendly, although she likes human companionship best.
