CCA Meals

CCA’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

Senior Connections invites everyone for coffee, conversation and games on Monday, July 29. The meal will have a Mexican flare. Tamales donated by Carolyn Moore will be paired with enchiladas, Spanish rice, black beans and corn salad from Senior Connections. Moore will also donate desert.

Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

Senior Connections will start the week of July 22 with a really fun event. Members are looking forward to having the Fender Bender Band entertain once again. What makes it more exciting is it’s an ice cream social! This membership drive event will take place at the KC Hall, 405 South St.

Available for adoption from the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter:Huskies are genetically closer to wolves than other dogs. Their independent nature tends to result in some troublesome behaviors. Huskies are often abandoned because they need a strong leader who understands the breed.

As of July 12, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 900 for the year – 381 dogs and 519 cats in need.As of July 12, the shelter had 142 animals in its care – 64 dogs and 78 cats.

Pleasant Union sets Vacation Bible School

Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 24, 25 and 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. along with a session on Saturday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that will include face-painting, games, free food, etc.
