CCA Meals

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

The shelter has several German shepherds – adult males who showed up to the shelter as strays. Pictured are Rocky and Ranger. If you’re interested in a large-breed dog, the shelter has a big selection of dogs ready to find their forever home.

Food Pantry serves 145 families during May

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 145 families in May with a total of 454 individuals. The Pantry had four new clients with a total of 19 individuals. The amount of food given out was 8,362 pounds. Food donated was 3,145 pounds. The volunteer hours were 369.

The 4th Degree St. Michael’s Assembly 1527, Knights of Columbus, consisting of members from Flatonia, Schulenburg and Weimar, recently presented a check to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for $250 and a check to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School for $500.

Fayetteville Bank recently donated $500 to the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department. Fayetteville Bank was represented by Steve Ulrich, vice president/ Schulenburg branch manager, in presenting the check to SVFD firefighter/ treasurer Paul Zapalac.

Animal Shelter statistics

As of June 7, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 731 for the year – 306 dogs and 425 cats in need.As of June 1, the shelter had 135 animals in its care – 73 dogs and 62 cats.

Knights of Columbus donate to St. Rose music program

Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 recently made a $500 donation to the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School music program.The funds will be used to update the music being learned by the students along with other musical needs at the school.St. Rose School has a choir program for grades K-3.
