Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Meals should be ordered two weeks in advance and will be delivered to the homebound, or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

Food Pantry serves 139 families in June

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 139 families in June with a total of 424 individuals. The Pantry had six new clients with a total of 21 individuals. The amount of food given out was 6,804 pounds. Food donated was 3,965 pounds. The volunteer hours were 310.

Senior Connections has an extremely busy week ahead.On Monday, July 15 at the Schulenburg campus, after a morning of dominoes and tarock cards, a lunch of roast beef, buttered potatoes, salad and dessert will be served.

As of July 5, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 857 for the year – 369 dogs and 488 cats in need.As of July 5, the shelter had 132 animals in its care – 76 dogs and 56 cats.
