Public invited to lecture on PTSD in Columbus on May 9

The Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley announces that Dr. Michael Fuller will present a community lecture titled “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Related Conditions” at its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 9 at noon at the Colorado County Courthouse in Columbus.

Benefit for Jimmy & Cindy Carter slated

A benefit barbecue pork steak dinner for Jimmy and Cindy Carter will be held on Friday, May 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St.Tickets are $12 each for the drive-through only plates, which will include barbecue pork steak, buttered onion potatoes, pinto beans and pickle.

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

As of April 27, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 546 for the year – 265 dogs and 281 cats in need.As of April 27, the shelter had 95 animals in its care – 69 dogs and 26 cats.

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound.Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.
