Food Pantry serves 148 families during December

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 148 families in December with a total of 480 individuals. The Pantry had five new clients with a total of 19 individuals. The amount of food given out was 8,888 pounds. Food donated was 3,948 pounds. The volunteer hours were 336.

CCA Meals

Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

2nd Chance lists hours of operation

Hours of operation for Second Chance Emporium in La Grange are as follows: •Donations Drop-off Hours – 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. •Sales Store Hours – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Geissen, age 81, of Schulenburg will be held Friday, Dec. 29, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Rose Catholic Church in Schulenburg, Texas. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Friday with the Parish Rosary to be recited prior to the Mass at 10 a.m. at the church.

Orsaks give $5,000 to Fire Department

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department received a $5,000 donation from Joe and Roxanne Orsak on Saturday morning, Dec. 16.
Donation to St. Ros e Youth Gro up – Richard Schacherl represented KC Rev. Allen Black Council 3295 in presenting a $1,000 check to Stacy Oeding, representing the St. Rose of Lima high school youth ministry at Schulenburg. McCourt Equipment requested that, instead of payment for materials for three “Jesus Christ Divine Mercy” signs, donations be made to three area youth groups.
