Brown earns honors as student/athlete

James Cason Brown from Schulenburg recently earned two honors as a student/athlete at Angelo State University. Brown was among 87 Angelo State student-athletes receiving 2022-23 Academic Achievement Awards from the NCAA Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA).

Early Childhood Screening Early childhood screening for children ages 3-4 who have significant learning and communication delays and who live in the Schulenburg and Flatonia school districts will be held on Thursday, Aug. 3 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Tricycle races and kiddie parade planned at Festival

The Schulenburg Festival tricycle races and kiddie parade will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5. Both events will take place under the pavilion on the dance floor. The tricycle races will start at 11 a.m. and will include a division for 2- and 3-year-olds and a division for 4- and 5-year-olds.

Turtle Wing gets $25,000 grant from Texas Mutual

Turtle Wing Foundation was recently granted $25,000 from Texas Mutual Insurance Company to be used for therapeutic, educational and recreational scholarships for those with learning challenges in the rural area.
