Seniors of Fayette County high schools and past graduates of the county’s schools, who are currently enrolled in a junior college or other institution of higher learning and planning to attend Texas A&M University, are strongly encouraged to apply for the Fayette County Texas A&M Scholarship.

St. Rose team wins championship in Lee County Basketball Tournament

The St. Rose of Lima Catholic School fifth and sixth grade B team boys went undefeated 5-0 and won first place in the Lee County Basketball Tournament held on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Giddings.In pool play, the St. Rose Cardinal team defeated St. Paul-Serbin 29-16, St.

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announces the 2025 Save Texas History Essay Contest for fourth and seventh grade students.The Save Texas History Essay Contest encourages students to explore topics in Texas history or culture, however big or small, that helped shape Texas.

Stanzel Foundation to give scholarships

The Stanzel Family Foundation (SFF) is accepting scholarship applications for the 2024-25 school year.The Joseph & Victor Stanzel Memorial Scholarship offers up to $15,000 to high school seniors living in the Schulenburg or Weimar school districts. All seniors are encouraged to apply.

K. of C. Free Throw Contest held locally

The Schulenburg Knights of Columbus Council 2902 held the local level of the K. of C. Free Throw Championships on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Schulenburg ISD Gym. The winners received gift cards donated by the Schulenburg Dairy Queen.

Second Chance gives $15,000 to ARTS, $20,000 to Turtle Wing Foundation

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $15,000 to Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) and $20,000 to Turtle Wing Foundation.Monies donated toARTS will be used to fund free art education to children in grades 1-6 in Fayette County schools.
