SVFD recognizes winners in annual fire prevention poster contest

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department handed out awards to the students who won in the annual fire prevention poster contest on Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Fire Station. Winners at the school and division levels received trophies from the SVFD, represented by Fire Chief Darren Guentert.

FFA team finishes 2nd at Karnes County contest

The Schulenburg FFA livestock judging team finished in second place overall at the Karnes County Livestock Judging Contest held on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Karnes City. The members of the team placing second were Keeley Warnken, Madyson Holub, Kyrroll Prihoda and Haley Schramek.

Mayor signs proclamation for Catholic Schools Week

The week of Jan. 28 has been designated as Catholic Schools Week in Schulenburg through a proclamation signed by Mayor Connie Koopmann, with students and the principal of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in attendance.

St. Rose slates activities for Catholic Schools Week

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School has scheduled numerous activities during Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 28 through Feb. 3. Each day’s activities have a theme. The annual observance began on Sunday, Jan. 28 with “Parish” as the theme.

Drabek makes Dean’s List at Southern Arkansas University

Abegayle M. Drabek earned a 3.5 grade point average or higher at Southern Arkansas University for the fall 2023 semester, securing a position on the Dean’s List. Drabek is an animal science major at Southern Arkansas University and 2023 honor graduate of Flatonia High School.
