Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 89 calls for service and four reportable incidents were investigated during the week of Feb. 11-17. Included were one outstanding warrant, one fraudulent charges on debit card, one reckless damage and one city code violation.

Multi-county new landowner series for 2023 to begin Feb. 17 in Brenham

The first meeting for 2023 in the multi-county new landowner series will take place on Friday, Feb. 17 at the Washington County Expo Sales Facility located at 1305 East Blue Bell Road in Brenham.

Sheriff’s Report

January 2023 Sheriff Keith Korenek reports these activities of Fayette County deputies for January. Detective Marc Bennett is working nine CPS cases involving crimes against children which occurred in Fayette County. Bennett also took a report of a stolen vehicle from a gas station near La Grange.

February sales tax allocations total $1.3 billion

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, Feb. 8 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for February, 9.3 percent more than in February 2022.

Pesticide applicator training slated March 3 in La Grange

A pesticide applicator training has been scheduled for Friday March 3 at the Fayette CountyAgricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the program beginning promptly at 8 a.m.
