Spring feral hog contest under way thru April 28

The Fayette County spring feral hog contest began on Monday, Jan. 2 and will continue through Friday, April 28. The contest is being held to give landowners, producers and sportsmen an opportunity control feral hogs in Fayette County.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 99 calls for service and six reportable incidents were investigated during the week of Dec. 31 through Jan.

Master Gardener intern class to begin Jan. 19

Applications are now being taken for the 2023 Bluebonnet Master Gardener intern class which will be held in La Grange. The deadline for signing up is Thursday, Jan. 19. Fee is $200 per participant, which will cover the cost of materials and defray speaker expenses.

Bennett announced as Deputy of the Quarter

Investigator Marc Bennett has been named Deputy of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2022, according an announcement by Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. Investigator Bennett has 27 years of law enforcement experience, with 22 of those years being at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

St. Mark's meets requirements for CIHQ accreditation

St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange has successfully met the requirements for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating compliance with Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) Standards and the Conditions of Participation by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Search warrant results in arrest of La Grange man

The Fayette County Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at Carter Motel in La Grange on Friday, Dec. 16 in reference to narcotics being sold from one of the rooms, according to Sheriff Keith Korenek.
