Three entities were granted American Rescue Plan funds by the Fayette County Commissioners Court at its meeting on Thursday, Dec. 22 The Fayetteville Community Center Group received $77,000 to renovate the Fayetteville Community Center.

2022 Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter, which serves all of Fayette County, started 2022 with 98 dogs and cats in care. As of Dec. 31, 2022 total intake was 1,411: 677 dogs and 734 cats in need. As of Dec. 31, 2022, the Shelter had 97 animals in its care: 78 dogs and 19 cats.

97-year-old missing from La Grange found in Katy area

A report of a missing elderly person was received by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday evening, Dec. 14, according to Sheriff Keith Korenek. Grace Johnson, 97, from La Grange, had reportedly left her residence off FM 2145 in her 2019 Jeep SUV. On Thursday morning, Dec. 15, Mrs.

Man arrested bonds out, steals car and lands back in jail

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday, Dec. 14, Deputy Seth Nagel took a theft report from the Point Store in West Point where milk and motor oil were stolen. An image from a security camera at the store was able capture an image of the vehicle used by the suspect to get away.

Master Gardener intern class to begin in January

Applications are now being taken for the 2023 Bluebonnet Master Gardener intern class which will be held in La Grange. The deadline for signing up is Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023. Fee is $200 per participant, which will cover the cost of materials and defray speaker expenses.

Traffic stop by SPD leads to drug arrest

A traffic stop by Schulenburg Police Department officers Saturday night resulted in a La Grange man being arrested for drug possession. According to the SPD report, a vehicle was pulled over in the 600 block of WestAvenue for a traffic violation at 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 17.
