Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 77 calls for service and three reportable incidents were investigated during the week of Oct. 10-16.

Oct. sales tax allocations 2.8% less than Oct. 2019

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, Oct. 7 he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $751.5 million in local sales tax allocations for October, 2.8 percent less than in October 2019. These allocations are based on sales made in August by businesses that report tax monthly.

Part of the donations from Sausagefest sponsors go to local museum

Some of the businesses that usually help sponsor the Schulenburg Sausagefest chose to donate their 2020 sponsorships anyway, even though the event did not take place this past April due to COVID-19. The Sausagefest committee recently met and chose the Schulenburg Historical Museum to receive part of the donations. Early voting by personal appearance in the General Election is under way in the Fayette County Elections Office located in the Courthouse, 151 N. Washington, Room 108, La Grange.

Elimination of Straight-Party Voting

House Bill 25, passed during the 85th Session of the Texas Legislature, eliminated straightparty voting effective Sept. 1, 2020.

Curbside Voting

Voters who are physically unable to enter polling places may vote curbside. •Early Voting – During early voting at the Fayette County Courthouse, designated parking spots with a “doorbell” ringer will be available to voters who need to vote using curbside assistance.
