A run-rule win over Louise last Thursday at the Sports Complex upped the Shorthorns’record to 6-5 in District 29-2A and the fourthplace playoff spot was clinched when Flatonia downed Weimar 10-0 on the same night.

With 17-2 finals in both games of a doubleheader against Louise last Tuesday, the Lady Horns closed out the regular season at 6-6 in District 29-2A and 14-11 overall. Schulenburg, as the fourth-place team in 29-2A behind Shiner, Ganado, and Weimar, will face Charlotte in bi-district. The Lady Horns had one firstplace finish among their five qualifying events at the Region IV-2A track and field meet, hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville April 19-20. Senior Meredith Magliolo claimed her third straight regional championship in the high jump, tying the Class 2A regional record of 5-feet, 6-inches.

After giving up five unearned runs in a 6-1 loss to Shiner last week, the Shorthorns bounced back to run-rule Bloomington and improve to 5-5 in District 29-2A. Schulenburg, at 12-11 on the season, had two district games left in the regular season – at home against Louise (April 18) and at Ganado (April 22).

After an early deficit on the road Friday, the Lady Horns defeated Bloomington 11-3 to improve to 4-6 in District 29-2A and 12-11 on the season. Schulenburg still had the inside track on the fourth and final playoff spot in 29-2A heading into the regular-season finale.
