Schulenburg High junior T.J. Medina and sophomore Ana Avila were named “Student Assistants of the Year” by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. The list, announced last week, included 66 team managers from across the state in all classifications from both public and private schools.
Schulenburg Little League placed a sign (shown above) on the building at the Sports Complex to recognize the three entities that contributed to getting a lightning detection system for the park last year. The hardware is shown on the roof of the structure in the photo at left.
With the announcement from Gov. Greg Abbott that all Texas schools are to remain closed to inperson learning for the remainder of this school year, and in an effort to help protect the health and safety of Texans, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) is canceling all remaining 2019-20 spring activities and state championships.
The University Interscholastic League is extending its suspension of all UIL-sanctioned activities due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Texas. All contests, practices, rehearsals and workouts will remain suspended until further notice, according to a UIL press release issued Thursday, March 19.
