Shiner racks up 48 points despite Horns’ keep-away efforts

Body
One formula to slow down topranked Shiner, with its slew of talented ball carriers and physical offensive line, would be to hold onto the ball. Schulenburg found out that doesn’t necessarily work in last Friday’s regular-season finale at Shorthorn Stadium.

Lady Horns power past Pettus in bi-district

Body
Except for a 1-0 deficit to start their bi-district match, the Lady Horns never trailed in a 3-0 sweep of Pettus. With point totals of 12, 10, and 12 by the Eagles, it took only 50 minutes last Thursday, Oct.

Horns end season with strong showing

Kenny King reaches the ball over the goal line after splitting two Shiner defenders on a 4-yard run early in the second quarter last Friday. The touchdown pulled the Shorthorns to within seven points of Class 2A’s No. 1-ranked team. The deficit was 14 until late in the third quarter but the Comanches eventually pulled away for a 48-21 win. It was well below the predicted 48-point margin. The Horns finished in a three-way tie for third place in District 13-2A Division I with Flatonia and Weimar but won’t make the playoffs because they have the worst point differential from games among the three against each other.
