With three pitchers giving up only two earned runs in 11.2 innings, highlighted by Owen Brenek’s no-hit shutout in game two, the Shorthorns cruised to 18-4 and 10-0 wins over Kenedy in last week’s Class 2A Division I bi-district series.

Janda finishes 38th at state golf tournament

Competing in his third Class 2A state golf tournament last week, Shorthorn senior Reid Janda shot a two-day total of 166.The event was held Monday and Tuesday, April 27-28 at the par-71 Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.Janda finished in a four-way tie for 38th out of 71 qualifiers.

The Shorthorns will take a 22-5 record into the Class 2A Division I playoffs this week after a 13-2 loss in Marion on Thursday, April 23.With its open date in the 29-2A schedule last week, Schulenburg had already finished with an 11-1 district mark.
