Hearne ousts Horns for second straight year

Body
Much like 2023, Hearne’s size inside proved too tall a task for the Shorthorns in last week’s bidistrict playoff game in Brenham. Dereion Mitchell, a 6-4 junior, did most of the damage as he scored 28 points in the Eagles’ 57-52 win. Jimmie Jones, at 6-3 and 290 pounds, chipped in 10 points along with setting picks that freed up his guards to drive and dish to Mitchell at the basket. In addition, Mitchell and company blocked numerous shots and outrebounded Schulenburg.
