Property owners will pay significantly less in school taxes for tax year 2023 through legislation that authorized $18 billion in Texas’ budget surplus to be allocated toward property tax relief in the form of rate compression and an increase in the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court approved entering into an education reimbursement agreement with EMS employees Shelanie Luther and Rebecca Spooner during its meeting on Thursday, Oct. 12. EMS Director Josh Vandever said that Senate Bill 8 allocated $28 million for EMS education in Texas.

Several items dealing with school safety and security were brought before the Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees at its regular meeting Monday, Oct. 16. Superintendent Dr. Julie Motomura informed Board members that Narcan could be available on campuses with a policy update.
