Herzik reaches quarterfinals at state

Shorthorn junior Caden Herzik goes for a backhand volley at the Class 2A State Tennis Tournament in San Antonio last week. After a 2-0 win in the opening round over an opponent from Omaha Pewitt, he was defeated in three sets by the eventual finalist in boys’ singles from Big Lake Reagan County.

Results for City, SISD elections

The joint election for the City of Schulenburg and Schulenburg ISD was held Saturday, May 2 at the Schulenburg Public Library. A total of 282 ballots were case in the City election while the school board race drew 519 votes, according to the Office of the Fayette County Elections Administrator.

County officials address trail ride shooting

For the second straight year, a shooting death related to a trail ride occurred in Fayette County.The Sheriff’s Department received a call shortly before midnight on Saturday, April 25 and responded to a venue south of La Grange.

Town hall meeting with county judge candidates set for May 12

The Fayette County Republican Party will host a town hall meeting in Schulenburg on Tuesday, May 12 with county judge candidates Josh Homan and Josh Vandever.The event will take place at the American Legion Post in Wolters Park, 1015 WestAve. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
