Deputy makes two arrests after checking on vehicle with flat tire

Two arrests were made after Deputy Austin Moore stopped to perform a welfare check on a vehicle parked on the side of Interstate 10 about five miles west of Schulenburg on Wednesday, March 15, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. Sheriff Korenek reported that around 3:15 a.m.

Trustees move forward with master plan for facilities projects

An architectural firm was authorized to proceed with formulating a master plan addressing areas identified for upgrades at Schulenburg ISD. The Board of Trustees approved the fee schedule of Architects Rabe + Partners by a 7-0 vote at Monday night’s meeting.

The EighthAnnual Schulenburg Sausagefest will take place in downtown Schulenburg on Saturday, April 1. The event includes several contests (sausage-making, wine, pickles, and sauerkraut) as well as arts & crafts vendors, non-profit organization booths, live music, and children/family activities.

Traffic stops lead to busts for SPD

Schulenburg Police Department officers found drugs after stopping a 2004 Chevrolet Impala on Thursday, March 16 at approximately 11:34 p.m. for a traffic offense. The stop was conducted on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile marker 676 about two miles east of the Schulenburg exit.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on Roy Rod off FM 2237 on Monday, March 13 around 12:30 a.m., according to Sheriff Keith Korenek. The Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Sgt.

State unemployment rate increases 0.1 percent in January

The Texas seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percent in January to 3.9 percent from a revised rate of 3.8 percent in December 2022 while remaining below 4.0 percent dating back to March 2022, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
