Over 200 pack public library for ‘Mob Mingle’

The Texas Zoo’s “Mob Mingle” program drew a throng of youngsters at the Schulenburg Public Library on Friday morning, June 9. Desiray Almaraz, lead educator for the zoo, introduced three of her four-legged friends to some 225 boys and girls.

Miksch named BWI Employee of the Year

Cindy Miksch (left) was congratulated by Dennis Brower (right), BWI Companies-Schulenburg branch manager, for being chosen as the 2022 BWI Employee of the Year company-wide, which includes eight participating BWI branch locations from Texas to South Carolina.

Commissioners Court handles insurance items at last week’s meeting

During the meeting of the Fayette County Commissioners Court on Thursday, June 8 at the Courthouse in La Grange, a couple of insurance items were discussed. One was a three-year crime insurance proposal by The Nitsche Group for Fayette County Ambulance Fee Collectors.

The City of Schulenburg is seeking interested individuals who reside within the city limits to serve on committees that work toward the betterment of Schulenburg.

AFG grant approved by Council

Acceptance and distribution of funds from an Assistance to Firefighters Grant awarded to the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department were unanimously approved by the City Council at its regular meeting Monday, June 5.

Fire destroys shop on Bryant Road

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire west of town on Bryant Road Saturday evening. A shop with equipment inside was a total loss and several vehicles around it had minor damage but were saved. The fire was contained and kept from other nearby buildings.
