Eight young ladies from “And Then A New Day” in Schulenburg gave a special performance at Bugle Boy in La Grange on Thursday, June 9, after attending workshop sessions with musicians Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines earlier in the week.

Six vying for Fayette County Fair Queen

Six young ladies will vie for the title of 2022 Fayette County Fair Queen, representing the La Grange, Flatonia, and Fayetteville communities. The winner is determined by sales of advance tickets to the fair.

County budget talks include proposed new phone system

At a budget workshop held by the Fayette County Commissioners Court last Thursday, IT Coordinator Kevin Wunderlich brought up updating the phone systems to a voice-over IP system using American Rescue Plan funds.

Court approves firm to do annual and single audit

The Fayette County Commissioners Court approved using Trlicek & Co., P.C. to do the county’s annual audit and single audit at a special meeting on Thursday, June 16. County Auditor Cindy Havelka informed the commissioners that she wished to use the services of Greg Trlicek with Trlicek & Co.

Museum window exhibit honors Jewish families

The Schulenburg Historical Museum has done a window honoring all past and present Jewish families. The exhibit is titled, “Central Texas Jews live their religion.” The Schulenburg Historical Museum, located at 631 N. Main St., is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Juneteenth Committee announces the final schedule of events for the weekend of June 17-19. Events will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center*, 653 E. Pearl St., La Grange, unless otherwise noted. Friday, June 17 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
