Two arrested for drugs, weapons after traffic stop on I-10 in Flatonia

Two arrests were made by Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith following a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in the Flatonia city limits on Tuesday afternoon, June 28, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Juveniles damage BBQ pits at Wolters Park

The Schulenburg Police Department reported that the barbecue pits at Wolters Park, which are maintained by the City of Schulenburg and are open to the public, were damaged the night of Wednesday, June 22.

Grant approved for license plate reader system, animal shelter granted ARP funds

A $20,000 grant awarded to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department for an automatic license plate reader system was approved by the Commissioners Court at its meeting on Thursday, June 23. It requires matching funds, which will come from the Sheriff’s Department Forfeiture Fund.

Unemployment rate falls statewide, increases in area

The seasonally-adjusted Texas unemployment rate for May was 4.2 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from April 2022, according to the latest figures from the Texas Workforce Commission. The national seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 3.6 percent from April to May.

Mini Horse Helpers come to Library
