Sticker won’t be published on Dec. 25

The Sticker will not have an issue on Thursday, Dec. 25, and staff will be on vacation from Monday, Dec. 22 through Friday, Dec. 26.The next issue of the Sticker will be Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, and the deadline for that issue is Friday, Dec. 26 at 5 p.m.

State unemployment stays at 4.1, area rates drop slightly

The Texas Workforce Commission released labor market statistics for September last week and they showed that the statewide seasonally-adjusted unemployment stayed steady at 4.1 percent.Rates for Fayette and surrounding counties (not seasonally adjusted) decreased slightly fromAugust.

Hermann Sons Life lodge presents ‘Humanitarian’ award to Marilyn Hinze

The Schulenburg lodge of Hermann Sons Life held its annual Christmas party on Wednesday, Dec. 10 and presented the 2025 Humanitarian of the Year Award to Marilyn Hinze.Hinze became a member of Hermann Sons Life at the age of 11 at the New Bielau lodge, which later merged with Schulenburg.

Vandever appointed to statewide committee

Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever has been appointed to the governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Response, a statewide body that helps guide Texas’ emergency medical and trauma system planning for large-scale emergencies and disasters.
