The Republican and Democratic parties will hold Runoff Elections in Texas on Tuesday, May 24. The winner of each party's Runoff Election will appear as that party's nominee on the Nov. 8 General Election ballot.

Turtle Wing Foundation held its 11th Annual Jack Hooper Day at the Ballpark on Saturday, May 7 at Wolters Park in Schulenburg. Attendees enjoyed the 5K fun run, cornhole tournament, turtle races, kid zone, silent auction, and more. The event was titlesponsored by Chuck Brown Ford.

One of the contested seats for Schulenburg City Council was decided by only 15 votes while the other ended up in just a 21-vote margin in the election held Saturday, May 7. Place 5 incumbent Larry Veselka edged challenger Randy Mican while Howard Stoner defeated Tina Bohlmann for Place 3.

The unofficial results given below for the Constitutional Amendment Election held statewide on Saturday, May 7, show overwhelming approval for the two propositions (with 100% of precincts reporting). In Fayette County, voter turnout was 13.

Early voting will begin on Monday, May 16 and continue through Friday, May 20 in the Republican and Democratic Runoff Elections. In Fayette County, all early votes will be cast at the Fayette County Elections Office, 275 Ellinger Road, La Grange, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
