A “Clean-Up Fayette County Day” to address roadside litter was discussed at the Commissioners Court meeting on Thursday, April 14. Precinct 1 Commissioner McBroom said that people are just going to have to start picking up trash.

Lady Horn Airyanna Rodriguez, shown in action this past season, was one of 50 players selected to the all-state team in Class 2A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. The junior post averaged 12 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, and 1.5 blocked shots per game for the 2021-22 season.

A Schulenburg man was shot in the leg late Thursday night, April 7, according to Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek. Brenek reported that 28-yearold Karl Jarmon Jr. was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Jarmon was treated and subsequently released, Brenek said.

The seasonally-adjusted Texas unemployment rate for February 2022 was 4.7 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from January 2022, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. Fayette County’s rate (not seasonally adjusted) remained at 3.8 percent over that span.
