The Fayette County Commissioners Court heard about gaps in radio communications across county lines at its meeting on Thursday, May 12. “If there would be a large, acute event, we would have major communication problems,” Emergency Management Coordinator Craig Moreau said.

Sticker wins 7 awards in TGCPA contest

The Sticker received awards in all seven categories it entered in the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. Winners in three divisions were announced during the TGCPA’s 84th annual convention, held May 12-14 in Sugar Land. All entries were published in 2021.

Cameras for county ambulances approved

The Fayette County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of camera systems for ambulances using Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council grant funding at the meeting on Thursday, May 12. The cost in six ambulances is $17,852.

One of the contested seats for Schulenburg City Council was decided by only 15 votes while the other ended up in just a 21-vote margin in the election held Saturday, May 7. Place 5 incumbent Larry Veselka edged challenger Randy Mican while Howard Stoner defeated Tina Bohlmann for Place 3.
