House in Swiss Alp area destroyed by fire

Firefighters arrived at a home on FM 1383 north of Schulenburg fully engulfed in flames in the early-morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 13. Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department First Assistant Chief Drew Brossmann said the structure was a total loss and only a defensive, exterior attack was possible.

Artistry added downtown

Four artists work Friday morning to complete the downtown mural commissioned by the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce. The artwork placed on the wall of the public restrooms at North Main Street and Upton Avenue features the “Painted Churches” on a countryside scene with local school mascots included.

TSWA all-state lists include six Lady Horns, three Shorthorns

The Texas SportsWriters Association announced its all-state lists for volleyball and football last week and they included nine Schulenburg High players selected in Class 2A.

Pursuit on I-10 starting at Engle ends east of Weimar

On Monday, Feb. 7 at approximately 10:45 p.m., Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 blue Dodge Charger for an equipment violation near Interstate 10 eastbound mile marker 668 which is near Engle, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Sheriff reports on stolen vehicle; reminder given to lock vehicle and take keys

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Deputy Jared Michalec responded to a call about a stolen vehicle in the Fayetteville area on Wednesday, Feb. 2. The owner advised that they had parked the vehicle, left it running with the key in the ignition, and gone into a business.
