The Most Rev. Brendan Cahill, bishop of the Diocese of Victoria, will celebrate Mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14 in Dubina, accompanied by the Czech choir, to designate Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church as a Diocesan Shrine.

Buying a garbage compactor for use by Dairy Farmers of America was unanimously approved by the Schulenburg City Council at its regular meeting Monday, Feb. 7. City Administrator Tami Walker said two such pieces of equipment are in “dire need” of replacement.

SISD receives good audit report

Schulenburg ISD got high marks on its financial audit for 2020-21, according to a report from Belt, Harris, & Pechacek given at last Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting.
Dr. Ackrell introduced Dr. Mark Ackrell, the medical director for Fayette County EMS, was introduced to the Fayette County Commissioners Court during public comment on Thursday, Jan. 27. Dr. Ackrell became the medical director for Fayette County EMS some months ago. He is a board certified physician in emergency medical services and is also an emergency room physician in the Austin area.

Agreement approved for County to coordinate city, school elections

Due to the increased cost of metal and materials, the Fayette County Commissioners Court approved fee changes for 911 address number signs, stop signs, and road name signs at its meeting last Thursday.

The Fayette County Republican Party held a political forum for the contested races for Precinct 4 commissioner and Fayette County judge on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 22 at Sengelmann Hall in Schulenburg. Over 60 people were in attendance.
