For the second straight season, the Lady Horns’ playoff run ended with a loss to Thrall in the Class 2A Region IV final. While the 2020 match went five sets, the Tigerettes were able to sweep Schulenburg 25-17, 26- 24, 25-15 this past Saturday in Brenham to earn a state tournament berth.

With the support of a $47,855 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of Schulenburg, the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department will construct a new building to store and protect its fire trucks and other emergency equipment.

Theresa (Terri) L. (Walker) Wagner has been named the new executive director of the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce. During a 39-year career as a Texas history teacher and coach, she served the school districts of Giddings, Blanco, and La Grange, retiring in 2016.

As if the drama of a fifth set wasn’t enough, three of the other four games Monday night in Smithville ended up in narrow two-point margins. Schulenburg (35-10) was able to withstand Thorndale’s spirited effort in a Class 2A Region IV quarterfinal playoff.

On Tuesday, Nov. 9, Charles Lee Tillman Jr. was apprehended by the United States Marshal’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Tillman was wanted for the murder of David Harrison Jr., which occurred on May 30, 2021.

Local weather observer Elroy Dieringer reported six days of rainfall during the month of October, totaling 4.09 inches. His measurements last month were as follows: To start November, Schulenburg had received 42.57 inches in 2021. The average rainfall for October, since 1926, is 3.
