Burn ban enacted Feb. 15

A ban on outdoor burning for Fayette County became effective on Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. At an emergency Commissioners Court meeting, an order was signed by County Judge Joe Weber restricting outdoor burning. Residents are warned to refrain from burning anything, including kitchen trash and brush piles.

The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 1, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Fayette County, Republicans and Democrats vote at the same sites. Polling sites are as follows:
A 2019 gray Ford Raptor was pursued by law enforcement from I-10 in Schulenburg east to the 677 exit, after which the vehicle got on I-10 westbound. The vehicle came to a stop on I-10 in Flatonia due to spike strips being deployed.

A pursuit on Interstate 10 that began in Schulenburg, headed east and then reversed direction ended at Flatonia on Thursday, Feb. 17, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Firefighters arrived at a home on FM 1383 north of Schulenburg fully engulfed in flames in the early-morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 13. Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department First Assistant Chief Drew Brossmann said the structure was a total loss and only a defensive, exterior attack was possible.

Four artists work Friday morning to complete the downtown mural commissioned by the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce.
