Three VFDs battle blaze on bluff

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that a 9-1-1 call was received by the Sheriff’s Department at around 2 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31 reporting a structure fire on Camp Lone Star Road near Highway 77 on the bluff in La Grange.

Six Schulenburg FFA members attended the 94th National FFA Convention and Expo Oct. 27-30 in Indianapolis, Ind. With a three-star rating at the national level, the Schulenburg FFA Chapter was awarded the National Chapter Award.

Property division variance discussed by Commissioners Court

The Fayette County Commissioners Court discussed an application requesting a variance to allow the division of property at the regular meeting held on Thursday, Oct. 28 but took no action regarding it. Dan Mueller, who serves as Precinct 4 justice of the peace, applied to divide 82.

Voters will decide on eight amendments to the Texas Constitution this coming Tuesday, Nov. 2. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day. Early voting by personal appearance continues through Friday, Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
