Sept. 17-23 proclaimed ‘Constitution Week’ in Fayette County

The Fayette County Commissioners Court proclaimed the week of Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week in Fayette County. Sept. 17, 2021 marks the 234th anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention.

Young Farmers Hay Show grand champion

Grand Champion in the Schulenburg Young Farmers Hay Show, held in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair, went to Kutac Farms with an entry of oats hay. The bale sold for $1,100 at the auction held on Thursday, Sept. 2. Farmers Co-op of Schulenburg donated 1,000 pounds of fertilizer to the winner.

Horns to host St. Paul for Homecoming

The Shiner St. Paul Cardinals will visit Schulenburg this Friday, Sept. 10 for Homecoming at David Husmann Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Rainfall slows in August but still above average

After the last three months averaged well over eight inches of rain, including 12.52 in May, Schulenburg’s precipitation slowed last month. Local weather observer Elroy Dieringer reported five recordings in August totaling 3.14 inches. That’s still over a halfinch above the average for August – 2.
