Constables to add security to Courthouse, County buildings

Fayette County constables will start security duties at the Courthouse and associated County office buildings in La Grange at the beginning of January. The Commissioners Court, at its meeting on Dec. 22, approved a minimum of 208 hours per year and compensation of $5,000.

UIL’s new cutoff keeps SHS in 2A

Instead of going from the largest school in 2A to one of the smallest in 3A, Schulenburg High School will get to stay put after the University Interscholastic League raised the cutoff number dividing the two classifications. “I was very surprised,” Schulenburg ISD Athletic Director Walt Brock said.

SISD’s finances receive superior grade from TEA

With an overall score of 94, Schulenburg ISD’s management of finances was rated “superior” by the Texas Education Agency. A required public hearing on the data was held during the Board of Trustees’ regular meeting this past Monday, Dec. 13.

Murder suspect arrested

Schulenburg Police Department Sgt. Tobey McFadden observed a subject wanted for murder while on patrol last Tuesday, Nov. 30 and detained him without incident, according to a news release from the SPD.
