A fire destroyed a large carport and damaged a portion of a weekend home in the Freyburg area northwest of Schulenburg at midday on Tuesday, June 1. The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department received the call at 11:05 a.m.

State survey available for storm damage assistance

With Fayette County’s local disaster declaration and letter to the governor requesting assistance following the latest rounds of severe weather, individuals who might need help will have to submit a damage survey directly to the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

High winds accompanied a severe thunderstorm that moved through Fayette County Friday night, May 28. Hardest hit in the Schulenburg area was the northeast portion of Fayette County Precinct 4, including the structure pictured above in the Holman area.
