Celebrating the end of the 19th year of Schulenburg/Weimar area Parents As Teachers, a graduation ceremony was held on June 8 at First United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Weimar. In attendance were approximately 86 parents, children, friends, volunteers and educators.

Top staff vacancies at Schulenburg ISD were filled with approval of three administration candidates by the Board of Trustees at a special meeting Monday, June 14. Following a 35-minute executive session, resignations that were unanimously accepted included High School Principal Charles Henke.

‘Sanctuary Serengeti’ requests exemption from wild animal prohibition

The Fayette County Commissioners Court discussed Sanctuary Serengeti’s request for an exception to the ordinance that prohibits keeping wild animals at the meeting held on Thursday, June 10. The Court accepted all comments made and will bring up the request at a future meeting.

Marijuana, cash found in vehicle pulled over on I-10

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that Deputy Herman Olvera discovered drugs and cash when he checked on a vehicle pulled over on the shoulder of Interstate 10.
DAILY CASES PER 100,000 POPULATION FOR FAYETTE COUNTY – Over a week-long span ending on Friday, June 4, Fayette County averaged one new, confirmed COVID-19 case per day (3.9 for every 100,000 residents). The chart begins in March 2020 and shows the spikes last July and September up to the high of 59 cases per 100,000 population in December and again approaching that level in January and February.
