County disaster declaration rescinded

The Fayette County Commissioners Court rescinded the declaration of local disaster related to COVID-19 as the first item of action at its meeting on Thursday, March 11.

$100 million bust

Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on Friday, March 5, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit, Sgt. Randy Thumann and K-9 partner, Kolt, stopped a Jeep SUV on Interstate 10 west of Schulenburg at the 668 mile marker at approximately 8:47 a.m. for a traffic violation.

License agreement debated by Council

A lengthy discussion on possibly revoking a license agreement with Von Minden, LLC at last week’s Schulenburg City Council meeting resulted in the aldermen voting to table the agenda item. City Administrator Tami Walker recommended the action in order to address the requests of Roland Kalina.

City, SISD keeping mask protocols as governor lifts mandates statewide

Gov. Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order (GA-34) on Tuesday, March 2 lifting the mask mandate in Texas and increasing capacity of all businesses and facilities in the state to 100 percent.
