Meth, cocaine seized during traffic stop near Schulenburg

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office Narcotics K-9 Unit seized 50 pounds of meth and 22 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 about three miles west of Schulenburg on Tuesday, March 2, according to Sheriff Keith Korenek. Sheriff Korenek reports that at approximately 11:54 a.m.

Schulenburg ISD’s football stadium was officially named after the school’s winningest coach with a unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees at its meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

A packed room wasn’t the only unusual thing about Monday night’s regular meeting of the Schulenburg City Council. Eleven people spoke during “Presentations by Citizens” to make it even more out of the ordinary and then a rare vote was cast by the mayor to break a 2-2 tie.

County’s public records now searchable online

Official public records of Fayette County are now available to view online. County Clerk Brenda Fietsam, made the announcement during the Commissioners Court meeting held Thursday, Feb. 25. “It dates back to 1838, anything that we have scanned in the system,” Fietsam said.

Library opens to public three days with restrictions

The Schulenburg Public Library is open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., effective Wednesday, March 3. However, for the protection of library visitors and staff, certain policies have been implemented.
