City Council has new face in Greg Thomas

THOMAS Schulenburg native Greg Thomas started his first two-year term on the City Council last month, taking over a seat vacated by the incumbent. Normally, the Sticker questions candidates prior to the local election but there wasn’t one this year since all of the positions were unopposed.

High winds accompanied a severe thunderstorm that moved through Fayette County Friday night, May 28. Hardest hit in the Schulenburg area was the northeast portion of Fayette County Precinct 4, including the structure pictured above in the Holman area.

ID fraud indictments result from two SPD cases

The Fayette County Grand Jury handed down indictments earlier this month on two area men for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information as well as possession of a controlled substance. Both cases stemmed from Schulenburg Police Department investigations conducted in March.

Tax abatement for Perdue approved 4-1

In a 4-1 vote, the Fayette County Commissioners Court approved a tax abatement agreement with Perdue Farms, LLC during a special meeting on Thursday, May 20. The 10-year agreement is based on an estimated investment of $3.8 million in equipment and buildings by Perdue at its Schulenburg facility.
