Within a week of last Tuesday night’s severe storm, nearly all the roads in the Schulenburg area that were closed had reopened. Precinct 4 crews had their hands full clearing fallen trees from roadways, like the one on Hranicky Road (top photo) west of town.

Hallettsville man arrested after pursuit

A Hallettsville man was arrested following a pursuit in the Schulenburg area that was initiated by a Fayette County deputy in response to an incident that occurred in Lavaca County, according to a report from Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office Narcotics K-9 Unit seized 17 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near the Engle exit on Wednesday, May 12, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court began its meeting on Thursday, May 13 by signing two proclamations and a certificate of appreciation. The Court heard a presentation from Diverse Planning and Development principal Pix Howell on the issues of distributing water across a vast area.

Garden Club inducts officers at May 4 meeting

The Schulenburg Garden Club met on Tuesday, May 4 at First Baptist Church. This was the first meeting since January 2020 because of COVID, and members were welcomed by president Delia Jurica. Sadly, three members who have resigned due to special circumstances will be missed.
