Library opens to public three days with restrictions

The Schulenburg Public Library is open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., effective Wednesday, March 3. However, for the protection of library visitors and staff, certain policies have been implemented.

The City of Schulenburg and Schulenburg ISD will not have to conduct elections on May 1 since all the candidates who filed for open positions are unopposed.

Crews from Fayette Electric Cooperative were finally seeing “the light at the end of the tunnel” on Friday when the sun came out and the temperatures began rising above the freezing mark.

The first part of the well-known motto “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” certainly applied last week. The Schulenburg Post Office remained open for service every day.

With storage tanks emptied, wastewater equipment failures, and customers’ pipes cracking, water was a major issue for the City of Schulenburg during last week’s sub-freezing weather.
