Local weather observer Elroy Dieringer reported only two days of rainfall during October totaling .42 of an inch. His measurements last month were as follows: • Oct. 16 .....................0.21”; • Oct. 28 .....................0.21”. Since 1926, Schulenburg has averaged 3.70 inches in October.

The Schulenburg High School Student Council sold “Pink Out” T-shirts to raise money to be donated to the Relay for Life of Southern Fayette County in honor of Chris Hooper. In all, $1096.40 was raised.

Deputy Santa Program dates announced

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek and the deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have announced the dates for this year’s Deputy Santa Program: Nov. 30-Dec. 16. Toys will be handed out to participants at three different locations on Dec. 17.

Resignation of band director accepted by SISD trustees

Schulenburg ISD will be looking to hire a new band director for the second time in less than six months with the resignation of Alan Perkins. A letter indicating his intentions was accepted by the Board of Trustees following a 45-minute executive session during Monday’s regular meeting.
