City offers guidelines for trick-or-treating

A set of guidelines for Halloween trick-or-treating was reviewed and informally approved by the Schulenburg City Council at its regular meeting on Monday, Oct. 19. The City of Schulenburg has designated 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 as the window for youngsters to trick-or-treat.

Hefner gives reminder about ‘electioneering’

Fayette County Elections Administrator Terri Hefner issued the following reminder on Monday, Oct. 12 that “electioneering” is not allowed within 100 feet of a polling location, including early voting. Examples of electioneering include wearing items such as T-shirts, hats, masks, pins, etc.

The Swiss Alp Dance Club donated a bench to the City of Schulenburg honoring the memory of Ben and Rene Sustr and their years as president and secretary/treasurer of the organization. The bench is located in downtown Schulenburg in the Railroad Park near the Gazebo on Main Street.

Facemasks become an issue prior to meeting

Prior to the start of the Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting on Thursday, Oct. 8, County Judge Joe Weber noticed seven people not wearing masks in the District Courtroom. Four minutes before the meeting started, he announced that masks were available for those who didn’t have one.
