A Stryker Lucas 3 mechanical CPR machine for Fayette County EMS was approved by the Commissioners Court at its meeting on Thursday, Oct. 8. Grant funds received from the Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council will be used for the purchase.

Marijuana, heroin, cash found in trio of traffic stops on I-10

Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on Monday Oct. 5, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Interdiction Canine Unit, Sgt. Randy Thumann and K-9 partner Kolt, stopped a Dodge pickup on Interstate 10 at the 658 mile marker west of Flatonia at approximately 10:29 a.m. for a traffic violation.

EDC loan for new RV park approved by City Council

The recently-opened 3 Oaks RV Resort got a boost for its start-up efforts with the Schulenburg City Council’s approval of a $75,000 loan at Monday’s regular meeting. Stipulations for the funds, which were presented as a project of the Economic Development Corporation, include a 10-year payoff at 2.

City-wide cleanup scheduled for Nov. 7, 12-14

The City of Schulenburg has scheduled a city-wide cleanup – open only to customers who live inside the city limits and pay monthly garbage fees – on the following dates: • Saturday, Nov. 7 – 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. • Thursday, Nov. 12 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Friday, Nov. 13 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Second Chance Emporium in La Grange recently donated $1,000 to each of the 10 volunteer fire departments in Fayette County. Since most of the departments were unable to hold their usual fundraisers this year due to the pandemic, support from the community is needed more than ever.

NVCC has program on ‘Dangers of Added Sugar’

As fall progresses, more Navidad Valley Community Connections members are cautiously returning. On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the Hafers returned; they said they really haven’t gotten out much since this situation started in spring.
