In August, Texas saw a decrease in the state’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate to 6.8 percent from 8.0 percent in July, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

On Friday, Sept. 18, Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Craig Moreau reported that two additional deaths were confirmed. Both occurred in Precinct 1, which includes La Grange and areas to the north and west of La Grange.

Two of the three undefeated teams in District 13 of Class 2A Division I will square off this Friday night as the Shorthorns travel to Flatonia for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Bulldogs are coming off a 34-7 win over Falls City, blowing open the game with 20 points in the fourth quarter.

After an executive session lasting a little over an hour at the meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10, the Fayette County Commissioners Court unanimously appointed Sylvia Mendoza as the interim tax assessor-collector for Fayette County.

A report about an active theft-in-progress of a skidsteer was received by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center on Monday, Sept. 14 at approximately 4:38 p.m., according to Sheriff Keith Korenek.
