Schulenburg FFA member Madyson Holub was awarded a $10,000 scholarship during the 2025 San Antonio Livestock Show. The scholarship was presented to the high-placing San Antonio Breeding Gilt through the Calf Scramble Program.

For the second straight year, Calvin Thompson qualified for the Texas High School PowerliftingAssociation Division 4 state meet.The Shorthorn senior won the superheavyweight class at the THSPARegion 4 Division 4 competition, held in Navasota on Friday, March 7.

New AD brings DC experience to SISD football program

Continuing a path southward since starting his career in 2009, Clay Ferguson will take over as Schulenburg ISD’s athletic director/head football coach next week.The SISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire him at a special meeting on Friday, March 7.

St. Rose School plans upgrades

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, which has served Schulenburg since its founding in 1889, has announced major renovation plans starting this spring.Phase I of the 13-month project, with a price tag of approximately $3 million, includes a focus on the elementary and office areas.

The 10thAnnual Schulenburg Sausagefest has been scheduled for Saturday,April 5. The event will take place downtown on North Main Street between LyonsAvenue and Wolters Avenue, including the Railroad Park. Admission is free.Sausage-making contests, as always, highlight the event.
