Earlier this evening, the SISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Clay Ferguson at the new athletic director/head football coach. He comes to Schulenburg from Elgin, where he served as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

Spring city-wide cleanup set for March 15, 19, 22

Drug bust among arrests made by SPD last week

A stop on Interstate 10 led to the arrest of a California man by the Schulenburg Police Department for drug possession.On Wednesday, Feb. 26 at approximately 9:42 p.m., a Toyota Rav4 was pulled over by SPD officers for a traffic violation near mile marker 673.

Schulenburg officer takes part in Lone Star Task Force operation

For the second time in nearly a year since joining Operation Lone Star, the Schulenburg Police Department participated in a collaborative operation last week.Officer Byron Powe, who took part in both, headed to Jim Wells County to help with the three-day effort of the Task Force.

Lady Horn powerlifter qualifies for state meet

Schulenburg High School sophomore Cora Brenek won her weight class at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Region 5 Class 1A/2A meet on Monday, Feb. 24 in Edinburg.Competing at Bert Ogden Arena, Brenek totaled 880 pounds in the 242-plus division.

SPD arrests local woman & her boyfriend on warrants

What started as an investigation into a stolen wallet report ended up as warrant arrests for the Schulenburg Police Department on Friday, Feb. 21.At approximately 10:07 p.m., a subject gave a report to SPD officers about the wallet.
