Arrest made in stabbing incident Sun.

A Schulenburg woman was arrested following an incident in the 1200 block of South Street on Sunday, Feb. 9.According to the report from the Schulenburg Police Department, officers responded to the location at approximately 7:55 p.m. in reference to a subject being chased by a vehicle.

Aggravated robbery suspect taken into custody by SPD

Asuspect wanted for aggravated robbery was apprehended by the Schulenburg Police Department on Friday, Feb. 7.According to the SPD report, officers responded to the 1200 block of JamesAvenue at approximately 7:46 p.m. in reference to report of a suspicious person.

La Grange man killed in accident on Highway 77

A passenger vehicle rear-ended an 18-wheeler on Highway 77 near the Schulenburg city limits on Monday, Feb. 3 resulting in the death of a 32-year-old man from La Grange.According to the report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of the car was identified as Javier Maldonado-Roa.

Ordinance calling for City general election approved

The General Election for the City of Schulenburg was officially scheduled for Saturday, May 3 following action by the City Council at a special meeting Monday afternoon, Feb. 10.An ordinance was approved setting the polling place as the Schulenburg Public Library with polling hours as 7 a.m. to 7 p.

Workshop held to wade through plight of public pool

A workshop to discuss the future of Schulenburg’s public swimming pool lasted an hour and 13 minutes on Monday, Feb. 10 and covered the deficiencies that forced its closure as well as the possibility of reopening it.

State unemployment stays steady in December, area rates decrease

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Texas registered at 4.2 percent in December, unchanged from the previous month, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.Fayette County’s rate (not seasonally adjusted) fell six-tenths of a percent over that period, coming in a 2.9 percent in December.

SISD scores perfect grade on financial rating system

For the third straight year, Schulenburg ISD received a grade of “A” or “superior achievement” along with a perfect score of 100 on the Texas EducationAgency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.
