Shorthorn kicker named all-state

Schulenburg High School senior Brycen Schramek received all-state honors on the Padilla Poll listing for Class 2A Division I, which was released last week. He was included as a first-team, special teams player as a placekicker along with returner Easton Helgren of Whitewright.

Trustees proceed with plans to fill superintendent position

A special meeting of the Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to address personnel matters.After an executive session, closed to the public, the Board members returned to open session and voted 4-1 to accept the resignation of Athletic Director Luke Hobbs.

A 35-minute documentary, For the Record, was shown at the Lyric Theater in Flatonia on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m.This film showed the activities of The Canadian Record, a small-town community newspaper in Canadian, Texas, (population of 2,649 in 2019).

The Greater Texas Foundation has awarded a $539,308 grant to the Alliance for College and Career Student Success (ACCSS), a partnership of the Blinn College District and school districts in Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties.
