Shorthorn kicker named all-state

Schulenburg High School senior Brycen Schramek received all-state honors on the Padilla Poll listing for Class 2A Division I, which was released last week. He was included as a first-team, special teams player as a placekicker along with returner Easton Helgren of Whitewright.

Trustees proceed with plans to fill superintendent position

A special meeting of the Schulenburg ISD Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to address personnel matters.After an executive session, closed to the public, the Board members returned to open session and voted 4-1 to accept the resignation of Athletic Director Luke Hobbs.

Issues at City-owned buildings addressed

Firms were hired, with the approval of the Schulenburg City Council at last week’s meeting, to proceed with two ongoing projects at City buildings as well as for problems that have arisen at a couple of others.

Food Pantry acknowledges generous donations from the community

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry volunteers would like to again thank all individuals, organizations, churches and businesses for their overwhelming generosity in donating to the pantry this past year. The pantry has no fundraisers; as such, the pantry is dependent on the community.

ACCSS to expand with $540,000 in grant funds

The Greater Texas Foundation has awarded a $539,308 grant to the Alliance for College and Career Student Success (ACCSS), a partnership of the Blinn College District and school districts in Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties.
