Lady Horn trio named all-state by TGCA

Three Lady Horns selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 2A all-state volleyball team were: senior Emmrie Marx, sophomore Haylee Vacek, and junior Landry Zapalac. Marx led Schulenburg in kills this past season with 672.

Tough tourney tests

Da’Terrion Houston goes over a Ricebird to get to a loose ball in the Shorthorns’ first game of the Schulenburg Tournament on Friday morning. The Horns fell to Class 4A El Campo as well as 4A Sealy but defeated two 3A opponents, Hempstead and Yoakum.

County burn ban up for consideration on Dec. 23

The ban on outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of Fayette County was discussed at the regular meeting of the Commissioners Court on Thursday, Dec. 12.Ongoing dry conditions prompted enactment of the burn ban in late September.
