New stop signs unveiled

Covered since being erected a couple of weeks ago, two new stop signs were unveiled on Thursday, Sept. 5. One (left) was placed at North Main Street and Schulz Avenue and the other (right) is located at North Main Street and West Avenue.

Grand champion at the Young Farmers Hay Show

D&R Farms exhibited the grand champion bale in the Schulenburg Young Farmers Hay Show for an entry of alfalfa. The hay brought $1,700 at the auction, which was held in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair on Thursday, Aug. 29.Buyers were: M-G, Inc.

Turtle Wing taking part in ‘Dot Day’

Turtle Wing Foundation will join in celebrating International Dot Day on Sunday, Sept. 15 with a Jack’s Art Gallery art show opening.The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the Tomavik business building, 1203 South Kessler Ave. in Schulenburg, where the Turtle Wing office is located.

September proclaimed Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Fayette County

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation declaring September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Fayette County with the theme “Wear a Gold Ribbon” to urge all citizens to become aware of childhood cancer.

Fourth-place finish in Lady Horn Classic

Haylee Vacek digs a Goliad attack in the first set Saturday morning during the local tournament. The Lady Horns went 5-1 in pool play on Thursday and Friday to qualify for the Gold Bracket, where they lost to Goliad and Columbus to finish fourth in the 16-team event. For more, see SPORTS.
