Program on cotton gins set in La Grange

The Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives invites the public to an evening focused on the cotton stories and history of Fayette and Washington counties.The program will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 in the meeting room at the rear of the Fayette Public Library at 855 S. Jefferson St.

Young Farmers set hay show at Fayette Co. Fair

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 57th annual hay show on Wednesday, Aug. 28 and Thursday, Aug. 29 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange.Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m.

The Fayette County Commission for Intellectual Disabilities presented $5,000 donations last week to two Schulenburg-based non-profit organizations and a local governmental entity to help them advance their work with individuals in the community who have intellectual disabilities.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court heard a presentation from Red River Restoration of Coupland at its regular meeting on Thursday, July 25.Steven Svec, who heads Courthouse maintenance, said that the Courthouse windows are in desperate need of paint and have cracked glass, among other issues.
