John was born in Houston, Texas in 1923 and lived there all but two years of the next seventy years. He, his parents and his sole sibling, Manning, lived near the edge of current downtown Houston which had a population of 140,000.

Marjorie Ann Bohlmann, 83, passed away at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020. Funeral Mass was held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at 1 p.m., with Fr. Felix Twumasi officiating. Interment took place in the church cemetery.

Pete (Patrick) Stavinoha

Pete (Patrick) Stavinoha of Ammannsville, 76, passed away at his home in Ammannsville on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 after a three-year hard-fought battle with brain cancer. The funeral was held on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammannsville.

Valeria Ann Brandt

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, Valeria Ann Brandt passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Valeria was born on Aug. 22, 1931 in Schulenburg to Irene and Eddie Farek. She graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1949, and married William L. “Bill” Cooke in 1950.

David Wayne Tanner

David Wayne Tanner, 57, of Port O’Connor, and formerly of Hallettsville, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020. He was born on July 27, 1962, to Mac and Margie (Orsak) Tanner in Yoakum. He attended schools in Yoakum and then graduated from Hallettsville High School in 1980.

Linda Sue Valchar

Linda Sue Valchar of Schulenburg, age 62 years, 8 months, 29 days, passed away at Memorial Hermann in Houston on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 at 3:57 p.m. The funeral was held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.

James ‘Jimmy’ Lange

James “Jimmy” Lange was born on Dec. 1, 1939 in Burton to Alfred and Evelyn Wendland Lange and passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at St. David’s Rehab in Austin at age 80. He was a Weimar resident. He attended school and graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 1958.

Wendelina ‘Wendy’ Anna Klesel Hrncir

Wendy Hrncir, age 93, of Victoria, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Wendy was born Dec. 23, 1926 in Schulenburg to the late August and Mary (Baller) Klesel. She attended St. Rose Catholic School and Schulenburg High.

Evelyn Christ Mendel

Evelyn Christ Mendel passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born Oct. 9, 1926 in Hallettsville to Henry and Emilia Christ. She married the love of her life, Edgar Mendel Sr., on Nov. 4, 1946.

Ernie Paul Kloesel was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020 at the age of 70, due to Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Weimar on July 3, 1950, the son of Eugene R. and Evelyn (Rerich) Kloesel.
